And wanting have a personality with a feel that suits in to Smash is a lot harder than you are making it out. It isn't just about the move set not being complicated, about the character sense like they belong in this smash-ified universe, while nevertheless being recognizably that character. Perhaps this is a more obscure thought than I can get across, so I want to attempt using an illustration. While every one the characters in that game are recognizably those characters, the way they move in the match, how they fight, how they play off of each other, just... doesn't really do the job. Something about it always looks off, and does not quite feel as a cohesive game. And that is what I am talking about; making a balance where a character is recognizably nevertheless the character they are, while also making them feel"right" in the circumstance of a celebration fighting game similar to this.
Regardless of if you agree or not, Sakurai clearly did not feel like he would pull off that balance in Brawl and Smash 4 with Ridley, but was completely conscious of his importance (hence his status a supervisor ). Maybe something changed, or maybe only Sakurai thought about it a little tougher, but he did come about finding that right balance for Ultimate.Their Immediate announcements have been yawnworthy. Switch is SUCH a cool system but it feels underutilized for their major IP. Tons of little indie games and unique Japanese ports. Remakes of matches nobody asked for, without a remakes of those people are requesting for. They simply seem completely deaf to their fanbase, and not just that, HOSTILE to their fanbase in many ways (shutting down fan mods of matches, DMCAing youtubers, the crush controversy, etc etc).
It is just difficult to plenty of individuals to see one of their favourite game companies languish like this, myself included. It feels just like you're cheated buying this system and hardly any major franchise/AAA names are published on it.
I agree. I wonder why this is occurring. Is it Iwata dying? Reggie leaving? Or only an overall change in company attitude? It's really disappointing. I'm not really into Xbox and PS, I've been a Nintendo fan girl. I love their IPs and quirkiness. I used to love the way they seemed to care about creating fun games instead of just cash. I am hoping it comes backagain. .
Entirely agree. I had been confident that Nintendo would know the expectations that would come with announcing a 50 second general direct instead of using the"mini" qualifier or even just doing many of these announcements via twitter like they've been performing for the past year. But I was wrong. They sincerely appear to believe that guide was worth the entire year + wait and we still haven't gotten any advice on major franchises such as you mentioned, and somehow got a 2022 date to get a sequel to a game which really doesn't need one. Splatoon 2 felt like a growth than worthy of being a full fledged sequel, but figured they would do what they do using Smash and kart and launch one per console, but today they are just giving us another one that most likely won't be different and probably could have better been served as a growth than a complete on sequel. Not even a remaster statement that people have been asserting has been arriving for like 3 years now I believe. I don't doubt at all most of you who are complaining are young adult/adult gamers. You need to remember that Nintendo's concentrated demographic are children, families, and casual gamers. While they have thrown more mature/"hardcore" gamers a couple names like BOTW, Fire Emblem, as well as the bonus levels in Odyssey, one of their main focuses are having play that's accessible for as many people as you can.
